"NERV Disaster Prevention" App is Now Available in English

Gehirn Inc. (Headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Daiki Ishimori; hereinafter referred to as 'Gehirn'), is pleased to announce that on September 1st, 2021 (Disaster Prevention Day), Gehirn will update the "NERV Disaster Prevention App" to begin distributing information in English.

Improving Accessibility

Over the past few years, we’ve been focusing on improving accessibility. For us, accessibility is about making sure everyone has access to information, through the means or methods that most suit the individual.

The language barrier is a huge part (and our most recent focus) of disaster information accessibility, and with this update, we hope to address just that.

The main person responsible for this effort was an Australian member of the development team, who is fond of Japan. The English-speaking cultural background was also taken into account, localising information to be recognisable and understandable to even those unfamiliar with Japan.

Though it’s taken a long time to develop and translate everything into English, we’re finally ready to release it. Despite a lot of information that can’t be satisfactorily translated in advance (i.e. long body forecast text), we hope this release is a step in the right direction for information accessibility in Japan.

With each experience, Gehirn has reviewed and evolved the way we deliver information and developed our disaster information delivery system to ensure that accurate information is delivered quickly. Gehirn will continue to strengthen its disaster information distribution system.
